There is a touch of craziness in every life, and the clerical life is no different. In fact, it may be even crazier than average because of the variety of people we encounter, the events and incidents that we have to contend with and the level of trauma and emotion we must handle on a daily basis – not to mention the devastation left behind by thirty years of violence – talk about a crazy life!

This book is a conglomeration of the good, the bad, and the ridiculous, and reinforces what I have always suspected, that only a very foolish clergyman will take himself too seriously.

Fr Collins was born in 1936 and ordained in Rome in 1960. He worked in the Diocese of Derry for fifty years, spending eighteen years in charge of the Bogside parish of Longtower during the Troubles. He is now retired, but is a frequent broadcaster – contributing over one hundred pieces to Radio Ulster’s Thought for the Day programme. He also published the book Life, Death and the Bits in Between in 2014.
